“You’re like that crazy guest who thinks he’s part of the family already”
HI, I’M ROB DUNLOP
I worked as an illustrator after graduating from art school, transitioned into photography and then video. Art school taught me about colour, light and composition and how to tell stories visually. No matter how much action is going on in my films, you can pause them at any point and they should hold up as individual images. The phrase “every frame a painting” is something I strive for.
MY Style
My goal has been the same since I started Pretty in White in 2011, to produce the kind of wedding films that I’d want to receive. Artistic, carefully crafted stories which reflect every aspect of the day. Films that you and your guests will never get tired of watching.
Weddings are fun, they’re vibrant, full of energy, humour, emotions and a little bit of chaos. I want to show all of that.
I’ve always loved movies, especially romantic comedies, and making little versions of my favourite films is the coolest job in the world.
ON THE DAY
Pretty in White is a team of one, it’s just me and my cameras.
When you book me, you actually get me, not some bloke I met down the pub. On the day, I’m discreet but I don’t hide in the bushes with a long lens. I blend in with the guests, have a laugh and find cool stuff to shoot. I also love working with photographers, sharing ideas and making sure everything goes smoothly.
I normally bring an assistant, who helps me set up and provides extra angles during the important parts of the day. They also make sure mischievous toddlers don’t use my tripods as a climbing frame. Having a small team helps us keep a low profile. We do of course reserve the right to jump into your photo booth – sorry, not sorry.
