I’ve filmed a few weddings on the Amalfi Coast now and it remains one of the most idyllic locations in the world. Sadly, Brexit has made life more difficult for Brits travelling to Europe for work, but at least I have gorgeous weddings like this to look back on! Every time I’ve filmed in Italy I’ve found a new angle which captured my attention, and here the architecture of the venue and its views over the sea are what blew me away.
Isabella & Peter’s wedding in Amalfi was one for the books. The party started with a bang at an Amalfi club on the first night, before the main event the following day. The ceremony was held in the rooftop ruins of the luxury hotel Grand Convento Di Amalfi with incredible sea views and an opera singer that gave us all goosebumps. Seriously, that’s her singing in the film, what an unbelievable addition to the ceremony. The weather was perfect, almost too hot, but no one was complaining.
Working with Isabella and Peter was a genuine honour, they trusted me completely and they were so fab to be around, they were both super chilled, letting their hair down and not worrying about any little details. I’d met Peter at a previous wedding that I filmed, and its always flattering to be chosen based on prior experience – in fact the previous couple were guests here in Amalfi. Nothing cooler than meeting couples years after filming their wedding.
The drinks reception took place on the hotel’s balcony area, where local musicians played live music, and the hotel itself was some kind of magical maze, taking you from one incredible location to another. The evening reception was in another part of the hotel, also with sea views, a great DJ, fantastic lighting, beautiful flowers, and so many cool people. The fireworks reflecting over the infinity pool were the cherry on top.
We had a blast filming this one! Planned to perfection by Mr and Mrs Wedding Italy.
