This was everything I love about weddings, the coolest, most relaxed couple, kids running around causing absolute mayhem, lovely scenery (and a convenient location – yay!), guests sitting round a camp fire and enthusiastic dancing well into the night. Home Farm Glamping near Elstree in Hertfordshire is such a cool wedding venue and a bit of a hidden gem, providing an idyllic setting in a location so close to the city.
Plus working alongside wedding photographers York Place Studios, who are simply the coolest documentary wedding photographers and looking for the same kind of quirky artistic shots as me. This wedding was honestly my happy place for creativity and inspiration.
Added to that, the ceremony was hilarious yet beautiful, the speeches were awesome and I was treated so well by everyone, especially the fabulous Sian and Sam. I do get the best couples. Sam was apparently a little nervous about having a video guy around on the day, and I get that, it’s a common thread as everyone just wants to enjoy their wedding without worrying about cameras keeping an eye on them. So the plan was to check in with Sam at 3pm to see if I was still wanted or if it was a case of “enough already!”. Happy to report that I didn’t outstay my welcome or affect the chilled vibe of the day at all (phew!) so I carried on filming into the night and lucky I did, given the footage! I do try to be discreet at all times and go with the flow, so it was nice for Sam and Sian to keep me around for the full day. A genuine honour to capture this experience.
The live band nailed it, the food was excellent (especially the pizzas from Ruff Wood Pizza – yum!) and I can’t say enough nice things about the staff at Home Farm Glamping – so cool and considerate. “You want to fly the drone round for a bit? No problem!” One of my favourite upbeat natural wedding films of the year. Enjoy!
